JOBS AND SKILLS
Every other day on the internet we see many an article espousing the need for skills for job seekers. At the Fresher level depending on the type of job profile there are a host of skills that a graduate is expected to master. This brings us to the moot question why are these skills not imparted at the basic education level upto graduation? why is there a complete disconnect from primary education to the collegiate level and the job market for freshers. If what is being taught at schools /colleges is of no use then why not teach these too?
While at the work place it is perfectly understandable that an employee wants to upgrade his skills and move up the ladder depending upon his competence, at the entry level perhaps today it is only the govt services where no such skills are required to get an entry!!
Even if we accept that these skills are a must and there are many institutes in cities that offer these as capsules, where does that leave the rural student? How difficult is it for him/her to overcome these obstacles?
Food for thought indeed….
