Retention of a competitive edge and providing value to the OEMs being critical to EMS there is a need to adopt standards of quality and the ability to react to the changing scenario is essential.
What then is the Indian EMS scenario?
As ELCINA says "The growing Indian market for electronic products is over US$25 bn and is growing at about 30% per annum ! At this rate it is projected to exceed US$ 70 bn by 2010 and US$158 Bn by 2015. This growth has attracted global players to India and leaders like Solectron, Flextronics, Jabil, Nokia, Elcoteq and many more have made large investments to access the Indian market."
So India being an attractive destination for OEMs sourcing EMS, while the top knotch Cos (which is about half a dozen) may find it easy those medium and small INDIAN Domestic EMS Cos need to adopt industry standards.To that end the article referred to above could be of immense value.

The logic being that instead of Cos spending money on purchasing and hosting/loading on own computers and servers it can subscribe to the service and hopefully the automatic(?) upgrades..
I wonder what its impact will be on Indian IT Cos who are into SW???For the Cos how does it help in profit generation?
IN India where the basic OS like Windows is still largely pirated esp in the SOHO and Individual segment. could we also expect some variant where in we can log on to an OS??? say like windows vista. I for one am waiting for availability of OS which i can carry in my pen drive or PDA /mobile communicator and plug in and use!
can some of you offer your views?
